Sled Charges Low Country Man with Vehicle Fraud
The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) charged Jason Thomas Wingate, 38, with Forgery – Value $10,000 or More, Breach of Trust - Obtaining Property Under False Tokens – Value $10,000 or More, and Obtaining Property Under False Pretenses – Value $10,000 or More on Monday, September 14, 2026. Wingate was booked into the Dorchester County Detention Center on these charges.
Wingate was then transported and booked into the Charleston County Detention Center on charges of Breach of Trust with Fraudulent Intent – Value $10,000 or More on Monday, September 14, 2026.
The South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles requested the SLED investigation.

The case will be prosecuted by the 1st and 9th Circuit Solicitor’s Office, respectively.
