Members of the S.C. House of Representatives Government Efficiency and Legislative Oversight Committee requested that we
review processing times for Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) claims.

Objectives

• Examine the leadership and operational management of the South Carolina Vocational Rehabilitation Department’s Disability Determination Services.
• Determine reasons for significant wait times associated with the disability determination process and identify strategies to
  decrease processing times and backlogs for Supplemental Security Income and Social Security Disability Insurance claims.
